This week, the FDA’s final deeming regulations regarding the marketing and manufacturing of vapor products were sent to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This final step in the regulatory process is designed to look at broader implications of regulations and unintended results that new regulations could have.
Agent VAPE received this email letter from SFATA President Cynthia Cabrera on the subject:
“You may be aware that SFATA already was working behind the scenes to ensure that vapor products are regulated proportionally and appropriately when the FDA released its proposed rule in April 2014. In fact, we have continued to work on behalf of our members regarding the deeming process through official comments and meetings with FDA.
SFATA now is actively engaging with OIRA and is in the process of setting up a meeting with OMB to voice member concerns about these final regulations and the impact they will have on the vapor industry.
We will share more information about this meeting and other opportunities for you to help influence this final step in the federal rulemaking process. Please know that we are always working on your behalf and will make sure your voice is heard in Washington, DC.”
